I would highly recommend mad max tours - they are professional and timely. Our driver Bill was a good driver, friendly and very knowledgeable - we went to several sights starting at 830 and were at Stonehenge before anyone else. I would definitely use this tour company again.

My Husband and I took this Tour on Sept 16,2025. Our Driver/Guide was Richard.
The Van was easy to spot at the Meeting place, we left right on time and from there on it was a very enjoyable Experience. Richard has a wealth of Knowledge and Anekdotes and Stories to tell during the drive.
There was plenty enough time at every stop for pictures and looking around.
We really enjoyed the tour and would highly recommend it.

Really enjoyed this small group van, day trip. We packed in a lot of sights in 1 day that's for sure. Being a guided tour it was great to get information about what you were actually seeing. This tour is very well organised and does give you some free time in the places you visit. It is also more relaxing than trying to drive to these locations in one day yourself. The tour guide organises the tickets for Stonehenge themselves so you don't have to line up. So you have the benefit of group entry also. The ticket to Stonehenge is not included so that is extra and you pay the tour guide on the day. We spent about 1 1/2 hrs here from memory. This tour will suit solo travelers as well as couples and small groups. It is best for travelers who are trying to see multiple sights in short amount of time.

Our local driver guides love sharing the extra information to the prerecorded details. You are so right understanding what you are seeing while navigating the narrow winding roads is a more relaxing way to explore as well as more informative. We like guest to have time to explore on their own as well as participate in guided information. So pleased you appreciated not having to wait at Stonehenge by entering as part of our group. This was one of the best organized group tours I have taken. Richard provided thoughtful, down-to-the-minute history lessons, advice for meals, and a broad explanation of the geography of the region. I was super impressed by the wonderful sites included on this tour, and I could not help myself from smiling all day. I highly recommend this package.

All our local driver guides are incredibly knowledgeable and all carry out their own research to add little gems of extra information, as well as the prerecorded information from Maddy. Being part of a small group, in a smaller vehicle, does mean we can take our guests to lovely places that the bigger tours do not go. We booked this tour specifically to see StoneHenge and it also included Avebury Henge and the Cotswold villages.
We had Bill as the tour driver and host. The day started at 8.20am.
The tour was excellent and Bill was so friendly and very knowledgable. We had to pay extra for the Stonehenge entry but this was part of the terms and conditions.
I would recommend Mad Max 100%.
The very full Day finished at 5.30.

I loved my Mad Max bus tour of the Cotswolds and Stonehenge, it was like being in another place and time. Our driver used the right amount of humor to keep us all enthralled while we learned about the history and significance of the area. I would highly recommend this tour.

It was a beautiful sunny perfect day to visit Stonehenge and the myriad ancient towns that we stopped at. Gorgeous scenery, prompt service, lots of ability to walk on your own and stop for a pint. Wouldn’t have changed a thing!

If you are considering touring the Cotswolds- do it!! We loved our tour! 100% recommend going on the tour instead of just doing the trip on your own. Kevin was our guide and he provided so much valuable information and entertainment. He kept things interesting with his humor. We ate at the Hive for lunch at the Stowe-in-the-Wold stop and it was delicious, thr restaurant of course came recommended by Kevin.
The only thing I think could have made it a bit better was I wish we could have spent a bit more time in Castle Combe on the first stop, since it was just so gorgeous and there was a lot to see. Overall, it was a wonderful trip and we enjoyed every minute of it!

My husband and I attended the Mad Max Cotswolds tour in September of 2025 with Gerry as our tour guide. We booked this tour to see Stonehenge, with any other site as a “nice but not required.” Turns out that Stonehenge was spectacular, but IMO Avebury was even better! The Lacock and Castle Coombe stops were another added bonus that I’m glad we were able to see.
Timing of stops was just right, and our guide Andy was knowledgeable and friendly.

Cannot emphasize enough, how great Kevin was on this tour. Very informative, with good commentary throughout. the tour itself was well paced, and I didn’t feel like there were any points in the tour where I felt like we were spending too much or too little at one place. The van itself is nice and is equipped with USB chargers, which was helpful for charging devices. The sites are obviously amazing, but it was the tour that really brought it to life. We are visiting from the US and this was definitely one of the highlights of our trip. Richard was an amazing guide. It was a small group which made it feel more personal. Plenty of time at each spot. The buss was clean. It was a perfect experience and worth the money for sure!

Amazing driver Richard went non stop for an entire day of site seeing in the rain. Richard led us thru Lecock, gave a delightful guided tour and knew all a the best stops to see in each small town.

Highly recommend! Our day in the Cotswold was a dream! Just the right size group, not too big - and our guide Richard was the best! We had plenty of time at each stop. Parking a rental car at some of these small locations would have been tough, so I am so glad we opted for a tour instead. Plus we had the added benefit of a local guide. If you want to tour the Cotswolds, you can’t beat Mad Max!!

Wonderful tour led by William. He has a great style and expert knowledge! This tour provides a sampler of a few of the beautiful small villages in the area, as well as visiting the ancient stone circles at Avebury and Stonehenge. Highly recommended if you have just a few days in the Bath area. Lots of driving of rural roads so you get a chance to see many smaller towns and the countryside in this part of England.
We were lucky enough to have William join us last year as one of our local driver guide team His love and knowledge of the area really makes a difference. Being in a smaller vehicle does mean it is possible to explore the pretty back roads and some of the lesser known places as well as the impressive monuments at Stonehenge and Avebury. Our tour leader, Kevin, had a lovely dry sense of humor and much knowledge of local history to help us see a full local history picture.
We signed up for this tour after reading about it in Rick Steves' guide to England. The experience was everything we hoped for and more. If you're looking for a relaxing, well-organized, and scenic way to see the English countryside, this is it. Our guide, Jerry, was truly exceptional.
Jerry was warm, funny, and incredibly knowledgeable. He shared fascinating insights about the villages we visited, local history, and traditions, all delivered with charm and humor. We even got some classical and pop music to accompany the drive at different points! He also gave great recommendations based on what people wanted to do. We certainly never would have found the gorgeous Windrush Trail without him!
The itinerary was thoughtfully planned, giving us just the right amount of time in each spot to explore, take photos, shop, or grab a snack or a beverage. For my husband, a big Tolkien fan, finding the Doors of Durin in Stow-on-the-Wold was a major highlight!
The mini-coach was comfortable, and the group size was small enough to feel personal. It was such a stress-free way to take in the beauty of the region without worrying about navigating narrow roads or trying to choose which village to visit.

As you found one of the benefits of joining us in the comfortable Mercedes mini coach with panoramic windows, is not having to negotiate the narrow winding roads.
